Return and Refund Policy
Effective Date: 01 October 2025
At Magic & Monsters, operating out of South Africa, we are committed to providing our customers with the best shopping experience while adhering to the principles of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). Please read our refund policy carefully.
Items Not Eligible for Return or Refund
Due to the nature of collectibles and the integrity of sealed products, we maintain a strict policy on the following items:
- Trading Card Games (TCGs): No refunds or exchanges are offered on any TCG products, including but not limited to Pokémon TCG, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, unless the product is defective upon receipt.
 - Opened Items: Once the original sealed packaging of any product has been breached or the item is considered used, it is not eligible for a refund or return.
 - Gift Cards or Digital Downloads.
 
General Returns (Change of Mind/Unwanted Goods)
For all other items, returns for a refund due to a change of mind or simply unwanted goods must meet the following conditions:
- Time Limit: The return request must be initiated within 7 calendar days of receiving the item.
 - Condition: The item must be in its original, unopened packaging and in the same new condition that you received it.
 - Proof: A valid receipt or proof of purchase is required.
 - Restocking Fee: A 15% restocking fee will be charged for all returns approved under this General Returns policy (change of mind). This fee will be deducted from your final refund amount.
 - Return Shipping: The customer is responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning the unwanted item.
 
Defective or Incorrect Items (CPA Alignment)
If an item is defective, not fit for purpose, or you received an incorrect item, you may be eligible for a replacement, repair, or a full refund:
- Reporting Defects: Please contact us immediately, but no later than 6 months after receiving your order, to initiate a claim for goods that are defective, as mandated by the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) in South Africa. After this 6-month period, the product’s manufacturer warranty will apply.
 - No Fees: No restocking fee will apply to returns of defective or incorrectly fulfilled items.
 - Our Cost: Magic & Monsters will cover the reasonable cost of return shipping for items confirmed to be defective or incorrect.
 
The Return Process
To request a return or refund, please follow these steps:
- Contact our customer service team via email with your order number, the item(s) you wish to return, and the specific reason for the return.
 - Our team will review your request and, if approved, provide you with a Return Authorization Number (RAN) and instructions on where to send the product.
 - Do not send an item back without first receiving an RAN, as this may delay or void your refund.
 
Refund Time Frame
Once your return is received and inspected:
- We will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund request.
 - If approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment within 7–14 business days. The exact timeframe for the funds to appear will depend on your bank or card issuer’s policies.
 
International Orders and Freight Forwarding Services (Strict Policy)
Magic & Monsters does not support orders placed for delivery to third-party warehouse or freight forwarding services (such as Aramex Global Shopper).
- Cancellation: Orders identified as being shipped to such international warehouse addresses will be automatically cancelled. A 50% cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund to cover administrative, handling, and restocking costs.
 - International Refunds: We do not refund international credit cards or payment methods. You must provide valid SWIFT Banking Details for the refund transfer. You will be responsible for all banking fees and exchange rate fluctuations incurred.
